About Jeffrey Mine Grossular var. Hessonite

The varietal term "hessonite", when referring to grossular garnet from the Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada, refers to the amazing transparency and clarity of the material. Most, but not all hessonite grossular are cinnimon colored. However, non-transparent cinnimon garnets should not be referred to as hessonite. Regrettably, the clarity and transparency makes illustrative photography of the crystals virtually impossible. However, what does show up with great clarity in the photos are any flaws, attachment points, and so forth.

You can buy our Jeffrey Mine garnets with total confidence — we always provide a refund or exchange for any specimen not meeting your expectations, providing you return it in the same condition as received with all labels, etc. within three days of receipt — same as for all our minerals!
