This attractive group of black Hedenbergite crystals is from the Laxey Mine, South Mountain District, Owhyee Co., Idaho, USA. Sorry, but it doesn't photograph well to show its form. It's very black. This specimen was collected before 1978.

These large Hematite pseudomorphs after Magnetite octahedrons are from the classic site at Dypingdal, Snarum, Norway. The old included label shows the mineral as "Ilmenite", because of its ~3% titanium content, today considered just an impurity. However, this is the correct label! Also interesting is that this specimen is about 50% pearly-cream colored hydrotalcite -- this is its type locality. Collected about October, 1908.

This specimen measures about 8.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 3.7 cm. The largest crystal is about 3.3 cm along an edge.

These Hematite pseudomorphs after Magnetite cuboctahedrons, are from the classic site at Dypingdal, Snarum, Norway. The crystals, some fractured, are in serpentine. Collected 1909.
