Quartz


Mineral # 057 Available

Quartz from Greeley, Ontario, collected 1981. These were first discovered in pockets in limestone when a pipeline trench was being dug. This is a very aesthetic, large, superb, sharp, lightly smokey quartz specimen, showing parallel growth and skeletal habit — and then there is the clear, colorless, sharp crystal growing out from one of the faces — a welcome addition to any collection.

This specimen measures about 5.5 cm x 3.5 cm x 4.2 cm.

Quartz var Ferruginous (Red) Quartz

Especially of interest to the serious Francon Quarry collector – very unusual milky Quartz as a complex parallel growth – essentially a single crystal with hundreds of faces, about 3 cm long. Accessory minerals include: weloganite and calcite crystals. From the Francon Quarry, St. Michel, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Collected 1973 from a sill cutting Devonian limestone. The specimen has a saw cut on the bottom.

Collected before May 1981. A wonderful specimen, with a light selective dusting of micro quartz xtals, plus traces of a jet black micro manganite.
