Clausthalite

Gray to black Clausthalite from the type locality, Lerbach, Hartz, Germany. Collected by Mineralogisches Institut der Bergakademie Clausthal before 1978 – their label is also included with the specimen. Accessories include Tiemanite and Umangite.

Clinochlore

Mineral # 016 Available

Clinochlore from the classic, now closed locality, the Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada, this specimen has deep green plates of clinoclore in a mass of vesuvianite.

This specimen measures about 4.5 cm x 4 cm x 2.5 cm. The crystal mass is 4 cm across.

Clinochlore var. Corundophilite


Mineral # 340 Available

An interesting cabinet specimen of Clinochlore var. Corundophilite, from St. Pierre de Broughton, Megantic Co., Quebec, Canada. Occurs as green-gray spheres made up of micaceous plates to about 5 mm. A classic example of the type. Collected H.Steacy and G.Ansell, GSC, August 1975.

This specimen measures about 12.6 cm x 8.1 cm x 4 cm.

Clinochlore var. Kaemmererite (alt. Kammererite), var. Chrome Pennite

Clinochlore var. Kaemmererite is from Kop Daglari, Erzurum, East Anatolia, Turkey, these magnificent crystals are on a chromite matrix, old material collected in the late 1970's. Crystals this big and so perfect are hard to find these days, and equally hard to photograph!

This specimen measures about 3 cm x 3 cm x 1 cm. The largest crystals are 3-4 mm across.

Clinoenstatite

Clinoenstatite from the amazing, now closed locality, the Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada, this specimen has whitish (very pale green) radiating crystals of clinoenstatite to about 2.5 cm, together with minor accessory chromite and chrome-grossular. About one quarter of the specimen is coated with undamaged crystals.

This specimen measures about 7.5 cm x 6.5 cm x 6.0 cm.

Cobaltite

Cobaltite specimen, collected in the mid 1970's from Håkanboda, Västmanland, Sweden. The largest cobaltite cube is in very good condition, showing a light stress mark. Accessory pyrrhotite, biotite, chalcopyrite, quartz and dolomite.

Exceptional old museum-class Columbite cabinet specimen from the seldom seen Råde (or Raade or Rade) occurrence in Norway. The two main crystals are 2.5 cm to 3.5 cm long, about 1.5 cm across. These attractive pitch black columbites were collected April 20, 1895 by the Norwegian Mineralogical Museum (collector's name on label). Accessories include phlogopite and feldspar.
